Solar Tower

EnviroMission uses the suns radiation energy to heat air under a expansive collector zone that rises in the tower through turnbines in return to generate power to more than 200,000 homes. and the nice thing about it is it will cut down on greenhouse gasses that plague many companies and are under scrutiny and pressure to eliminate those type of emissions.

Mirror based Solar Towers use the suns rays by reflecting the light off of mirrors at its base to focus on a part of the tower that contains pipes with water, thus the heated water creates steam to run the turbines resulting in energy.

Reminds me of the factory in the movie Sahara.

Good to know that initiative is being taken to make better use of the resources provided us freely (i.e., the sun) without the need to irreparably harm the earth to feed our energy needs.

If you are referring to Enviromission the company, you should inform yourself more. It is indeed a great concept. The principle involves no mirrors. The, “skirt around the base causes the air to heat and rise toward the centre. At the base are turbines. You may figure out the rest

Yes muffy you are correct however they have 2 different types of solar towers. Like you said ones with a skirt around them to capture the heat and run turbines as well as the one I was talking about where they use mirrors to focus on a certain point on the tower that heats water in pipes which lets off pressurized steam to drives the turbines.

There are companies out there that use mirrors to focus sunlight to generate heat. Enviromission is not one of them, at least not that I’m aware of and I’ve owned shares in the company for a number of years and have kept up with their development work. Can you point to a company report that shows progress towards using the mirror focus technique?

Muffy and Chad, I stand corrected. You both are correct That it is indeed Enviromission that uses a expansive collector zone that heats air then passes it up the tower through the turbines.

The Solar Towers that use the mirrors are in spain and is by a company named abengoa who has created a subsidiary called Solucar Power that constructed the Mirror Type Solar tower that focuses its mirrors on a part of the tower that contains pipes with water, thus the heated water creates steam to run the turbines resulting in energy.
